Can You Hear Me? — One Song, Many Voices

We invite music schools, ensembles, choirs, singers and instrumentalists to join a shared musical project. The song in Russian, Hebrew and English will grow from the participants' recordings — from a simple rhythm to a full ensemble and interwoven voices and melodies.

The final arrangement is created together with the participants. Designated passages allow original accompaniment ideas, additional voices, rhythmic patterns and other musical suggestions. Each assignment identifies the required foundation and the passages open to creative work. A working sketch is reviewed first; the selected version is recorded to final quality after agreement.

Preliminary registration is now open to build a list of potential participants. There is no payment at this stage.

The preliminary stage closes on 30 November 2026. This is the deadline for preliminary applications, not the date of a concert or the final recording.

Choosing an application

Registration has two parts: Vocalists and Instrumentalists. In each, choose Beginners, Advanced or Professionals and Solo (one performer), Duet (two) or Group (an ensemble). If you both sing and play, submit two separate applications, one in each part, with appropriate samples. Each application selects one part, one level and one lineup so that musical answers remain separate.

Give each performer's current age when applying. An ensemble needs a named member list and its ensemble name; the additional questions also ask for each member's age and voice part or instrument. The participant or teacher selects the level; it is not automatically inferred from age or years of study.

Vocalists are asked about style, timbre, comfortable range, languages and harmony singing. Instrumentalists are asked about their exact instrument, tuning, role, orchestra type and lineup. Everyone is asked how they learn parts, work with a click, access a studio, record parts separately and schedule recording time. If your voice type, range notes or instrument tuning are unknown, leave that field blank; the team will clarify it before assigning a part.

What to submit

How participation works

  1. Submit a free preliminary application with the video sample: identify the performer or ensemble, school, city, instrument or vocal part and contact person.
  2. Candidate selection. The project team reviews the samples. Submitting an application does not by itself mean acceptance into the project.
  3. Invitation to paid registration. Selected candidates receive an offer with participation terms, the fee and payment instructions.
  4. Pay the participation fee. No payment is required before an invitation.
  5. Receive sheet music after payment is received. Participants receive their assigned part and preparation and recording materials. The song develops in sections; materials for later sections are issued as they become ready.
  6. Record for the final project. Professional studio recording quality will be required at this later stage. Detailed requirements and deadlines will be included in the invitation and assignment.

Reworking arrangements

Accepted arrangements and parts may be reworked: pitch, key and register may change, and experimental transformations may rearrange passages without preserving the original structure. Acceptance does not guarantee that the original sound will be retained. See the participation rules.

Rights for the main recording

Before payment and the main work begin, selected participants receive a separate agreement with Tondo — Artists Together (registered association 580496818) covering rights in their performance, recordings and original creative contributions, including public and commercial use. It is signed by the performers and other rights holders or duly authorised representatives; children require the consent of their legal representatives. The preliminary application permits only review of the sample without publication.

A condition of the main stage is the transfer of economic copyright to Tondo without payment for that transfer. For original melodies, arrangements, countermelodies and other original musical materials supplied for Can You Hear Me, authors transfer all economic rights they own and may legally transfer, worldwide and for the full statutory term of protection, including adaptation, publication, commercial use and further transfer of rights. No separate payment for the transfer or contractual share of project income is provided. Moral rights and mandatory payments that cannot legally be waived remain protected. The transfer is made through a separate written agreement before payment and the main work. Those who do not agree cannot enter the main stage; the preliminary sample remains for selection only, without publication. Any legally required approvals for a child’s original contribution must be obtained and checked before payment or use; a parent’s signature does not replace a required approval.

Children's participation

An application for a participant under 18 must be submitted by a parent or an authorised school representative with parental consent. Submit a sample with the performer's or parent's permission; permission to publish the final recording is handled separately.
